A Line is A Dot Self-Portrait Lesson

Lines, lines, lines! When I first began teaching, I thought it would be challenging to create a lesson that was engaging to young students while learning about line types. Now, this lesson is one of my absolute favorites! At the beginning of each year kindergarten students start off with a "The Dot" inspired project, followed up by this lesson! Students explore line types and a variety of materials in this lesson. Make sure to hold on to these papers until the end of the year!

One of the final lessons of the year is a kindergarten self-portrait. What does this have to do with the line project? Well, the line project makes the perfect background for these portraits!
